The work area was included in the SAP component Organizational Management (PA-OS) as an external object type WA and can therefore be integrated in the organizational plan of your enterprise. The organizational plan is entered in Customizing for Organizational Management in the activity Edit Organizational Plan.
One possible application scenario is the relationship between work areas and positions. On the basis of this relationship you can evaluate a corresponding evaluation path through the organizational plan and use the position to determine which persons are assigned to a specific work area at what time.
The required settings in Customizing for Organizational Management are included in the standard system. You should still check whether the following settings are present in your system and adapt them as required:
- Maintain Object Types
Check whether the object type WA with the object type text work area exists. Also, check whether the following entries are available for this object type under External object types:
- Key structure PKEY1 (general key for external objects)
- Interface RCBIHWAIF (located in the EH&S interface class CBHR)
Note: The object type WA was implemented in conjunction with Organizational Management. Do not create new object types yourself.
- Maintain Relationships
In the standard shipment the following possible relationships are available for the work area (WA). Adapt the settings as required.
Object type Relationship Related object type
Org. unit incorporates work area
Position belongs to work area
Job belongs to work area
Exposure group incorporates work area
Work area belongs to organizational unit
Work area incorporates position
Work area incorporates job
Work area belongs to exposure group
The time constraint 3 is assigned to the relationships. This means that any number of data records can be related at the same time. For example, you can assign any number of work areas to a position and vice versa.
- Maintain Evaluation Paths
Specify evaluation paths as required.
The standard system contains the evaluation paths WA-S-P, O-S-WA, and P-WA-S for the work area. Using these, you can evaluate the organizational plan through the following paths:
WA-S-P: Work area -> positions -> persons
O-S-WA: Organizational unit -> positions -> work areas
P-WA-S: Person -> work areas -> positions
The evaluation path WA-S-P is the default value of the environment parameter WA_PATHID. This environment parameter controls which evaluation path is used in the function for relating work areas to objects in Organizational Management.
The evaluation path P-WA-S is the default value of the environment parameter P_PATHID. This environment parameter controls which evaluation path is used in the report program List Agents and Safety Measures for a Person.
If you want to use other evaluation paths, define them and adapt the default values of the environment parameters in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools under Specify Environment Parameters.
