Use

Industrial Hygiene and Safety uses the central Classification System (CA-CL) component to enter information that can vary according to enterprise-specific requirements. This means you can adapt the standard system to your own requirements.

The connection to the Classification System is made with value assignment types. You can change them and assign them to the various object types in Industrial Hygiene and Safety. You can also create new value assignment types. They are represented in the application with the aid of tab pages.

If you do not want to use a tab page for specific object subtypes of an object type, you can define restrictions for these object subtypes.

Notes

  • The definition of a value assignment type includes the assignment of a class.
  • The number of tab pages is limited to 40 per object type.
  • The settings are converted in the application as follows:
    • The description of the value assignment types appears as the tab page title
    • The characteristics of the class appear as fields on the tab page.

Requirements

You have created the object subtypes and safety measure categories in Customizing. See, for example:

Examples:

  • SAP_EHS_1101_001 (Work area, industrial hygiene data)
  • SAP_EHS_1103_001 (Additional info, incident/accident log)
  • SAP_EHS_1103_002 (Additional info, person affected)
  • SAP_EHS_1104_001 (Additional info, injury/illness log)

SAP supplies the following assignments, for example:

Further notes

  • Value assignment types that are assigned to the object type work area appear in the application as tab pages in the IHS data function.
  • The classes are delivered empty with the exception of the IHS data, meaning without characteristics. You should therefore create the characteristics you require in the Classification System and assign them to the classes in which they are to be used.
  • SAP recommends you create your own classes. This prevents your assignments being lost when the classes are updated.
  • Note also the following when creating classes:
    • The classes must have the class type 100 (substance value assignments).
    • Create the classes within your customer namespace.
    • Assign characteristics to the newly created classes.
      • You can use either preset characteristics or your own characteristics.

Example

Requirement: In addition to person-related events in the incident/accident log, you also enter events that caused damage to property. You want to enter the relevant data for your enterprise on a separate tab page with specific fields.

Solution: You create a value assignment type for the tab page and assign the class to it in which you create the fields you require in the form of characteristics. You assign the value assignment type to the object type incident/accident log entry.

If you want to hide the tab page for specific types of incident/accident log entries, define additional restrictions.
