Use
In this IMG activity, you define the identifiers (IDs) of the patterns that you want to use to create reference numbers for the instances of your processes according to your requirements.
The system assigns a reference number to each instance of a process in the background as soon as the first processing step of the process is performed.
The reference number is then visible on the forms to all processors assigned to the process. You can use the reference number to find processes in the process search by entering the reference number or parts thereof.
Requirements
Standard settings
SAP delivers the pattern ID HRASR_DEF in the standard system. The system uses this pattern ID to output the reference number in the form of a coherent 12-digit number for the processes in HCM Processes and Forms.
The table of pattern IDs for the reference numbers is a system table with its own namespace for customer entries.
The customer namespace is: Pattern Y*, Z*
Activities
Define the pattern IDs that you want to use to create reference numbers that deviate from the standard for your processes.
For each pattern that you assign to a process, you must perform an implementation of the BAdI HRASR00PROCESS_REF_NUM (Create Reference Numbers for Processes) based on the pattern ID. You implement the BAdI in the work step BAdI: Create Reference Number for Processes.
Example
You want to differentiate between various processes (for example, hiring, maternity leave, termination) on the basis of the formatting of the reference numbers. In this case, you create a different pattern ID for each process.
You want to differentiate between processes from various application areas (for example, Personnel Administration, Time Management, Travel Management) on the basis of the formatting of the assigned reference numbers. In this case, you create a different pattern ID for the processes of each application area.
