Use

In this IMG activity, you enter the number range interval for the Reference Numbers number range object HRASR_REFN. This is used in the standard implementation of the BAdI Create Reference Numbers for Processes.

  • You execute this IMG activity if you use the standard implementation of the BAdI, that is, the implementation that the system uses in the standard system to create reference numbers for the pattern ID HRASR_DEF. You can specify numbers with a maximum length of 12 digits.
  • You can execute this IMG activity if you want to specify a number range interval for your own implementations of the BAdI Create Reference Numbers for Processes. You can specify numbers with a maximum length of 12 digits.
  • You do not execute this IMG activity if you do not use the number range object HRASR_REFN in your own implementation.

Notes

  • If you use the standard implementation of the BAdI, you must create a number range interval with the number range number 01 for the number range object HRASR_REFN. You can define the limits of the associated number range interval to suit your own requirements. Note that a new number is created for each process instance. The internal number assignment must be set up for the interval.
  • If you want to use the number range object HRASR_REFN for your own BAdI implementation as well as the standard implementation, note that the number range intervals cannot be defined as overlapping. Therefore, restrict accordingly the number of reference numbers that can be created in each of these intervals. For your own BAdI implementation, use a number range number that is not 01.
  • If you use the number range object HRASR_REFN exclusively for the standard implementation of the BAdI, you should select the interval 000000000000 to 999999999999 for the number range number 01.

To create a new number range, proceed as follows:

  1. Choose Change Intervals.

The Maintain Number Range Intervals view appears.

  2. Choose Insert Interval.

    Make the following settings:

    • Enter the number range number of the number range interval.
    • Enter the lower limit of the interval.
    • Enter the upper limit of the interval.
    • You can use the External Number Assignment indicator to specify that the numbers are assigned externally. If you do not set this indicator, the numbers are assigned internally, that is, the system assigns the numbers automatically and sequentially. The last assigned number is logged in the Number Range Status field.
  3. Save your entries.
