Use
In this IMG activity, you set up the Workflow Builder such that you can use the predefined components (standard tasks and multistep tasks) that are delivered in the standard system for HCM Processes and Forms while modeling your own workflows. You can select these components and move them using drag and drop to the graphical modeling interface of the Workflow Builder to use them to model workflow templates.
Components are preconfigured steps that can be included in the modeling of the workflow. These can be steps for processing or approving forms, for example. By including components in other workflow templates, you can use identical steps in these templates without having to copy the steps. The advantage of this is that any changes you make to the components have an effect on all workflow templates containing the components.
Requirements
Standard settings
In the context of HCM Processes and Forms, SAP delivers a range of components (standard tasks and multistep tasks (workflows)) that you can use to create your own workflow template. These are part of the Components for HCM Processes and Forms task group (TG17900001). The TG17900001 task group contains the following task groups:
Interactive components (task group TG17900002)
At the runtime of a process, interactive components create work items that are then sent to specific Portal users. These users receive the work items in their universal worklist (UWL).

Background components (task group TG17900003)
Background components are run without any interaction from the user. They create results in the workflow container and you can use these results for process modeling.

Activities
- Start the Workflow Builder (transaction SWDD).
- Select the My Workflows and Tasks view in the list window (bottom left).
- Choose New Search Area.
- Enter the task group TG17900001 (Components for HCM Processes and Forms) and confirm your entry.
Note:
The assignment is retained even after the Workflow Builder is closed and appears again when you call the My Workflows and Tasks view again in the list window.
