This IMG activity enables you to determine comparison criteria for the payroll driver. For example, it is a good idea to restrict printing the remuneration statement for pensioners to when differences arise between the current payroll result and the payroll result of a previous period. The payroll driver uses the comparison criteria to determine whether the new payroll results match the payroll results of the previous payroll period. The comparison is made at the end of the payroll run. If the result of the comparison is unchanged, the SAP system creates switch wage types in results table RT. These switch wage types can be evaluated later by other programs, such as when the remuneration statement is created.
These IMG activities enable you to do the following:
- Create wage type
Using table T512W Wage Type Valuation, you define the wage types you want to use as switch wage types. If you have company-specific requirements that are not satisfied by the wage types supplied by SAP, you can use the wage type copier to copy the SAP model wage type to the customer-specific namespace.
- Edit wage type text
You can change the wage type's long and short text, if necessary.
- Define wage type as switch wage type
To use the wage types you created earlier as switch wage types, you include them in this table.
If you select Compare All Wage Types, the SAP system compares all of the wage types from results table RT. The results tables of two payroll periods are only regarded as identical if they match exactly for all wage types.
If you do not select Compare All Wage Types, the SAP system compares the wage types you determined in the Adapt Switch Wage Type IMG activity. The results tables of two payroll periods are only regarded as identical if they match exactly for the specified wage types. No other wage types are compared.
- Assign switch wage type to wage types to be compared
You assign all of the wage types you want to compare to the switch wage type. If all of the wage types assigned to the switch wage type in a payroll period match the same wage types in the previous payroll period, the SAP system creates the switch wage type.

Create wage type
- In the dialog box Wage type maintenance choose the action Copy.
The Copy wage types screen appears.
- The indicator Test run is selected. We advise you to perform a test run first. To implement the wage type copier productively, remove the indicator Test run.
- Model wage types are displayed in the original wage type field. You must copy these to your customer name space.
Only use the customer name space for your customer wage types. Do not copy any wage types to the SAP name space. - In the Customizing Wage Type field, enter the customer wage type name for your new wage type and choose Continue.
- Adjust the long and short text of the customer wage type to your requirements.
- To edit the short and long text of the customer wage type in languages other than your logon language, proceed as follows:
- Select the wage type and choose Other languages.
- The dialog box Maintain wage type texts in other languages appears. Here the wage type texts are displayed in all existing languages. The logon language is selected. You have the following options:
- You can change the wage type texts to another language
- You can add wage type texts in additional languages. To do this, enter the new language and the wage type texts in this language.
- Choose Apply.
- Select all wage types you want to copy and choose Copy.
You receive a list of the copied wage types in which the changes to all affected tables are logged.
