Use
In this IMG activity, you specify what metadata may be used in the Authoring Environment. The purpose of metadata is to provide basic information about a learning unit, such as details of the author, a description of the content of a unit and so on.
The metadata you specify here is read by the Authoring Environment when you go online. It can be maintained or updated by the author when the learning unit is read or checked in.
You can flag metadata as required. If required metadata is not maintained, a learning unit cannot be checked into the Authoring Environment.
For each type of metadata, you specify the data type (string, Boolean, date, integer, long) and enter an intuitive description.
Metadata with the following metadata IDs is automatically maintained by the Authoring Environment and is always available, even if it is not listed here in Customizing:
- author the author of a learning unit
- language the language of a learning unit
- lastedited the date a learning unit was last changed
- learningobjectives the learning objectives of a learning unit
- learningtime the completion time for a learning unit
- name the name of a learning unit
- subject the subject matter of a learning unit
- releasedate the release date of a learning unit
You cannot edit this metadata in the Authoring Environment, with the exception of the metadata ID author).
Note:
If you change your Customizing settings at a later date, for example, to flag other metadata as required, this change does not affect learning units that have already been checked in.
