Use
In this IMG activity, you specify in the REPEX CHAR8 switch whether file names in the Authoring Environment may contain 8-bit characters, that is, the full Latin 1 character set (ISO-8859-1). If not, you may only use 7-bit character size, in other words, ASCII code.
The REPEX MRENC specifies what character coding is used in the Authoring Environment to access files in the Content Management System.
The CPCFG MRENC switch specifies what character coding is used by the Content Player to access files in the Content Management System.
If you do not change the standard settings of the REPEX CHAR8 switch, which specify 7-bit ASCII Code, these two switches are not relevant, in other words, you do not change the standard setting.
However, if you use the 8-bit character set, the switches REPEX MRENC and CPCFG MRENC are relevant. In this case, you must enter the coding of the Content Management System. Otherwise, errors will result when files with 8-bit character names are accessed.
Note:
Please note that using a different character coding may cause problems.
If you change the standard settings, you must ensure that the two switches REPEX MRENC and CPCFG RSENC contain the same character coding if the same Content Management System is used.
Requirements
Standard settings
In the standard system, the file names in the Authoring Environment contain 7-bit characters (ASCII Code).
For communication purposes between the Content Management System and the Content Player (CPCFG MRENC ) or between the Content Management System and the Authoring Environment (REPEX MRENC), characters are coded in accordance with UTF-8.
Activities
- In the REPEX CHAR8 switch, enter the value X if you want to use 8-bit character set.
- You should only change the standard settings of the switches REPEX MRENC and CPCFG RSENC if the Content Management System uses a character coding other than UTF-8.
