The SAP Learning Solution defines the strategies allowed for playing self-paced courses (such as e-learning courses).
In this step, you select the learning strategies you want to use in your system from the various learning strategies offered. You can also assign names to the strategies you select.
A learning strategy is a combination of a learning micro strategy and a learning macro strategy. The micro strategy describes the learning strategy at the level of the course. The macro strategy describes the learning strategy at the level of the learning objects.
Example
Macro strategies include:
- From general to specific (deductive)
- From specific to general (inductive)
Micro strategies include:
- Explanation-oriented
- Task-oriented
- Example-oriented
Note
You can find more detailed information on the learning strategies on the screen View Micro Strategy/Macro Strategy Combinations under Detail Display.
Requirements
Standard settings
The following model combinations of learning strategies are recommended by SAP:
- Explanation-oriented (theoretical) - From general to specific
- Action-oriented (task-oriented) - From general to specific
- Example-oriented - From general to specific
- Overview (orientation only) - From general to specific
- Theoretical - From specific to general
- SCORM
Recommendation
It makes sense to restrict the number of active learning strategies if you want to simplify the course author's job of creating courses for the SAP Learning Solution. Otherwise, the author is forced to use all of the active learning strategies when creating courses. Thus, a smaller number of active strategies will reduce the author's work.
Authors can restrict the learning strategies available to them to have a better overview of their work.
Activities
To select learning strategies:
- Check each entry in the table to see if you want to use it in your system.
- Select the option Do not use strategy for any strategies you do not want to use.
- If necessary, change the descriptive text of the learning strategies you want to use.
- Save your entries.
