In this step, you define events that occur at the employee level. Such events affect the administration of LTI data, particularly the number of awards, the expiry date and the way vesting is handled. This aspect, however, is dealt with in the step Set Default Values for Life Events.
Example
Depending on the company policy:
- The expiry date may be anticipated on retirement.
- Awards may forfeit immediately when an employee leaves the company or when the company decides to cancel an entire LTI plan.
- Awards may forfeit on termination.
- Vesting may accelerate when an employee gets married and he/she may exercise 25% of his/her shares immediately.
Requirements
Standard settings
The SAP System is shipped with a set of predefined life events that you can change to meet your company-specific requirements.
Recommendation
Determine which life events apply within your organization.
Activities
- Choose New entries.
- Enter a 4-character code and a description.
- Save your entries.
