In this step, you define the settings needed to perform a stock split successfully by defining:

  • A combination of pre-split and post-split stock units,
  • The related rounding rules.

Preliminary Steps

You must have performed the activity Define Stock Units.

Recommendation

Determine whether your company's stocks are subject to a split.

Activities

  1. Choose New entries.
  2. Enter the pre-split stock unit.
  3. Define the stock split ratio, for example, 1:3. In this case, you would make 3 stocks available instead of 1.
  4. Specify whether the exercise price should be rounded up or down. If so, you must also specify the rounding amount and the related currency.
  5. Specify whether the number should be rounded up or down, usually to the previous or next award. If so, you must also specify the number of awards. To round down an award number from 11 to 10, select the Round Down rule. To round up the number from 11 to 12, select the Round Up rule instead.
  6. Save your entries.
