In this step, you determine which groups of employees are eligible for a compensation plan by means of rules and thereby control micro eligibility. Possible criteria are length of service, salary, working hours, appraisal results or waiting period, as described below. You are, of course, free to use one or more criteria.

  • Service
Specify the required length of service and the method for handling breaks in service. For example, you could include or exclude sabbatical leaves and other absences according to your company's guidelines.
  • Salary
Position a salary within a specific range. If, for example, you enter a minimum percent-in-range of 0 and a maximum percent-in-range of 80, employees are eligible for a salary increase if they do not exceed the 80% limit. Likewise, you can use minimum and maximum compa-ratios to determine eligibility for a salary increase or a bonus.
  • Working hours
Specify the minimum number of working hours to be evaluated over a given period, for example, 160 hours per month.
  • Appraisal
Specify a rule for measuring employee performance if required.
  • Waiting period
    • Specify the waiting period to be evaluated. For example, to be eligible for their first salary increase, employees must have been through their 6-month probation period. If used, both the Waiting period (Number) and Waiting period (Unit) fields are required.
    • If you maintain the Waiting Period Starts at Hire Date and Date Type for Start Event of Waiting Period fields, the waiting period starts on the date that occurs later in time.

Example

To determine whether or not a group of employees is eligible for a compensation plan, you could use the length of service and the workschedule type as eligibility criteria.

Requirements

You must have defined:

Standard settings

The SAP System is shipped with a set of predefined eligibility rules that you can change to meet your company-specifc requirements.

Recommendation

Determine whether restrictions apply to certain groups of employees.

Activities

  1. Select the relevant compensation area.
  2. Select an eligibility rule variant to restrict your selection.
  3. Choose New entries.
  4. Select the relevant eligibility grouping and delimit the record.
    • To exclude a grouping, set the relevant indicator if you do not want employees belonging to a particular grouping to be eligible. If so, you do not have to maintain any further fields.
    • To unrestrict eligibility, do not maintain any fields.
    • To restrict eligibility, specify the relevant criteria.
  5. Save your entries.
