In this step, you define compensation reviews to group sets of compensation plans to be processed within a specific timeframe. Depending on your company policy, a compensation review may include salary adjustments, various bonuses and long-term incentives (LTIs).

In addition to period-dependent reviews, you can also define spot reviews to reward employees for outstanding performance. Spot reviews can be processed anytime and as often as required.

Example

You have planned the annual review between January and March for employees on a common review date, which includes the following plans:

  • Annual merit-based salary, adjustment effective March 1st.
  • Annual Incentive Plan, to be paid in March for the past year's performance.
  • Stock options, to be granted on a specific date annually.

Requirements

Standard settings

The SAP System is shipped with a set of predefined compensation reviews that you can change to meet your company-specific requirements.

Recommendation

Determine the review periods that are required in your organization in different geographical areas, business units or employee groups.

Create spot reviews according to your company-specific needs.

Activities

To create a normal review:

  1. Choose New entries.
  2. Enter a 4-character code and a description.
  3. Leave the Anytime Review indicator unchanged.
  4. Define a review period, that is, the period during which the line manager is allowed to process a compensation review in Manager Self-Service, for example, from January until February of each year. If not specified, no restrictions apply.
  5. Define a selection period to retrieve a group of employees within a given period of time. If you enter the same date for both the begin and end date fields, the selection is valid on this key date.
  6. Save your entries.

To create a spot review:

  1. Repeat the steps 1 to 2 mentioned above.
  2. Set the Anytime Review indicator.
  3. Define a review period and a selection period (optional).
  4. Save your entries.
