Use

In this IMG activity you make the settings required to set up WWI generation servers manually if you want to set them up as services or console programs.

Requirements

Standard settings

Activities

  1. Specify root directories

Create a separate subdirectory for each generation server on the generation PC under the WWI directory, for example:

    C:\WWI\SERVER_EHS_001_1
    C:\WWI\SERVER_EHS_032_1, and so on

You enter this path for every generation server in the IMG activity Specify Generation Servers.

  2. Set up SAPRFC.INI

Open the SAPRFC.INI file in the WWI directory on the generation PC.

The top line entries in the SAPRFC.INI under [General] serve as general settings for the generation server as a console program. They are not relevant for the generation server as a Windows service:

  3. [General]
TLEVEL = Information content of log output

Note:
The TLEVEL can be a number between 0 and 5. It controls the log output that is created during a generation run.

    Value    Meaning

0    Information on the RFC registration

        Serious errors

        Generation requests are not logged

1    More information on the RFC registration process

        Generation requests with flow time

        Exact information on RFC errors

        Errors controlling Word

2    Information on calls of internal functions

3    Information on internal operations and return values of internal    functions

4    Detailed information on internal operations

5    Very detailed information on internal operations

The higher trace levels include all the lower levels. Parameters that are greater than 5 are set to 5. As the default, the standard system has the setting TLEVEL = 3.
COLS = width of window for program WWIRFCSV.EXE in pixels
LINES = height of program window in pixels
DELAY = time in seconds. Specifies the time after which the system checks if the program WWIRFCSV.EXE should be restarted after being terminated.

To adapt the entries in SAPRFC.INI to the system prerequisites, complete the following five entries, both for the console program and the Windows service:

  1. DEST: Enter any identifier, for example,
  2. DEST=DEST_GENSV1.
This identifier is required to start WWIRFCSV.EXE or WWISVC.EXE.
  3. PROGID: Enter any identifier, for example,
  4. PROGID=ID_WWI_GENSV1
This entry (the identification of the program) must be made in the SAP system when defining the RFC destination. The entry can be chosen to be identical to the DEST entry.
    See Set Up RFC Destination.
  5. TYPE: Enter the following:
  6. TYPE=R
R stands for "registering" RFC connection. This means that the generation server registers itself in the network.
  7. GWHOST: Enter the application server on which your generation server is to be registered. The complete router string including the application server must be entered, for example,
  8. GWHOST=/H/mum18/H/hstd01.
You determine the application server and the router string by selecting your system in the SAP Logon screen and then choosing Properties.
  9. GWSERV: Enter the name of the gateway service provided on the GWHOST.
  10. You determine the gateway service by selecting your system in the SAP Logon screen and then choosing Properties. The name consists of sapgw and the system number, for example,
    GWSERV=sapgw02.
    Note:
Follow the pattern of upper and lower case letters as it is given here.
  11. For each generation server that is run as a console program, the server description must be in square brackets as the first entry in the SAPRFC.INI.
  12. The entries [PC1], [PC2] to [PC9] are supplied in the standard system. Delete the semicolon in front of the entries to be used.
    Notes:
    - If you want to configure several generation servers, enter the five lines a) to e) in SAPRFC.INI for each server. Enter a new value for DEST and PROGID each time.
    - The last line of data in SAPRFC.INI must be terminated with a line feed, otherwise the content of the line is not recognized and restarting the generation server does not work.
    Note:
When setting up of the generation server is completed, you can check whether your generation server is actually registered in the network. To do this, from the SAP Easy Access screen choose Tools -> Administration -> Monitor -> System Monitoring -> Gateway Monitor -> Goto -> Logged on clients.
