Use

In this Customizing activity, you generate standard phrase sets for all characteristics of data type CHAR 30. The following applies:

  • The phrase sets are assigned the same names as the characteristics. The description is made up as follows:
    • The first 15 characters of the value assignment type
    • The first 15 characters of the characteristic description

      Exceptions to these are characteristics that end with _GLP, _PREC, and _TEST_SUB. The phrase sets SAP_EHS_XXXX_XXX_GLP, SAP_EHS_XXXX_XXX_PREC, and SAP_EHS_XXXX_XXX_TEST_SUB are generated and assigned for these characteristics. The descriptions here are formed from the characteristic description only.

  • The languages that are defined for the value assignment types and characteristics are taken into account.
  • The newly generated phrase sets are automatically assigned to the characteristic of the relevant value assignment type. You can check the assignments in the SAP component Basic Data and Tools by choosing Phrases -> Edit Phrase Set-to-Attribute Assignments.
  • Phrases are not assigned during this generation.
  • Phrase sets are not generated for characteristics that are specified in the Exclude Characteristics from Phrase Set Assignment activity. If phrase sets and phrases are already assigned to these characteristics, the assignments are not subsequently deleted by the system. Assignments to phrase sets are deleted for all other characteristics.

    If the assignment of characteristics to phrase sets is deleted, the function module C14K_PHRASECHARACT_CHECK (check module for the phrase characteristics on the value assignment screen) is not deleted in the actual characteristic. The Activate Phrasing of Characteristics checkbox must be selected under EHS: Match Up Master Data for this purpose. Function module C14K_PHRASECHARACT is then removed from the characteristic if no phrase sets are assigned to the characteristic.

  • Phrase sets are not created for characteristics with a check table.
  • Phrase sets for the fields in the dangerous goods master are created in Customizing for Dangerous Goods Management under Create Standard Phrase Sets.

Activities

In the Exclude Characteristics from Phrase Set Assignment activity, specify any characteristics for which phrase sets are not to be generated. Then execute the Create Standard Phrase Sets activity.

The number of characteristics created and the number of characteristics that are or are not excluded from phrase set assignment are displayed in the spool list of the job overview. To view this, choose System -> Own Jobs -> Job Overview.

The Create Standard Phrase Sets activity starts the report to generate the standard phrase sets in the background.

You can execute the Create Standard Phrase Sets activity after a property tree update. After the property tree has been updated but before you execute the Create Standard Phrase Sets activity, specify in the Exclude Characteristics from Phrase Set Assignment activity which characteristics are to be excluded from the phrase set assignment.

If you manually delete or match up phrase sets under Edit Phrase Set-to-Attribute Assignment, these settings are reset when the Create Standard Phrase Sets activity is executed after the property tree update. Execute the Exclude Characteristics from Phrase Set Assignment and Create Standard Phrase Sets activities instead. In addition, the Activate Phrasing of Characteristics checkbox must be selected under EHS: Match Up Master Data.
