Use

In this IMG activity, you set up a job for the report RC1PHDEL.

Only execute this report in the background. To do this, you need to create a variant. For more information, see the application help under Getting Started -> Reports -> Variants.

You can use report RC1PHDEL as follows:

  • Set Missing Deletion Indicators

The report sets the deletion indicator for all data records that are dependent on data records that are already marked as deleted (assuming the indicator is not already set).

    Example:

The deletion indicator was set for the header of a specification, but not for the corresponding identifier. When you execute the report, all missing deletion indicators are set in the client in which you are logged on for the data in the SAP component Environment, Health and Safety.

  • Physically Delete Data Marked As Deleted

The report permanently deletes the data marked as deleted in the client in which you are logged on.

    Note:

The data is deleted from the database tables using the SQL commands DELETE and COMMIT.

When you set the Physically Delete indicator, the Set Deletion Indicator function is also triggered.

  • Consider Age of Data Records

You can specify that only those data records are deleted that are older than the value you have entered in the Age in Days field. The reference date is the creation date of the master data record. The system calculates the reference value based on the days specified with reference to the current date (current date - value in days). When the records are deleted, the system only takes into account master data records with a creation date that is less than or equal to the reference value calculated. If no value is specified, all master data records with a creation date before the current date are deleted.

    Example:

    Current date: 22.12.2010

    Age in days: 30

    Reference date: 22.11.2010

Deletion of master data that was created before or on 22.11.2010.

  • Consider data from past only

You can specify that only data with a valid-from date that lies before the current date is to be deleted.

If you do not select this checkbox, the deletion report ignores any validity data.

SAP recommends that you schedule the job regularly for the following reasons:

  • Specifications that are deleted using the deletion indicator but are not physically deleted retain their links to phrases. This prevents you being able to delete the linked phrases.
  • IDs of objects that are only deleted using the deletion indicator are locked and cannot be reused, meaning you can only assign this ID again after the deletion report has been run.
  • The deletion report creates memory space and improves performance.

Activities

Choose System -> Services -> Jobs -> Define Job and set up a job. Note the following when you do this:

  • Schedule the job as a periodic job.
  • Enter RC1PHDEL as the ABAP program.
