Use

You can assign materials to a specification of the specification category Substance in specification management. You can also make this assignment from the other direction directly in the material master. To do this, you must make sure that the necessary settings have been made in Customizing for the material master.

The standard system contains the Customizing for the screen sequence with the definition of the tab pages required for specification assignment. For this screen sequence to appear in the material master, you must also assign it to users, material types, transactions, and industry sectors.

So that specification assignments can be posted in the material master and so that a usage check can be performed in the case of the material being archived or deleted, SAP supplies implementations for the material master Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) that enhance the material master without modifications. The implementations contain the application coding. The coding is called automatically by the respective BAdI - you therefore do not need to take any action to be able to use the implementations.

Requirements

The specification must have the specification category Substance and belong to a specification type for which the Mat. assignment indicator is set in the IMG activity Specify Specification Types.

Standard settings

  • Screen Sequence SP

In Customizing for the material master, SAP supplies the screen sequence SP as a standard setting for the IMG activity Define Structure of Data Screens for Each Screen Sequence. SP is a copy of screen sequence 21. It is set so that the user can make the specification assignment in a secondary screen of the material master (screen type 2) that is called using the Additional data pushbutton.

  • BAdI Implementations

To post the specification assignment and to run a usage check, the following BAdI implementations are included and activated in the standard system. To use them, you do not need to take any actions.

BAdI        Implementation

Enhancement for Archiving MM_MATNR (BAdI: BADI_MM_MATNR)        EHS_MATERIAL_IN_USE

Integr. of New Objects (Industry and Retail) (BAdI: BADI_MATERIAL_OD)        EHS_MATERIAL_SPEC

Authorizations

For specification assignment, the following authorizations for the material master are required:

Create or Change:    S_TCODE; authorization TCD

    M_MATE_STA; authorizations ACTVT=02; STATM=K

Display:    S_TCODE ; authorization TCD

    M_MATE_STA; authorizations ACTVT=03; STATM=K

Activities

In Customizing for Logistics - General call Customizing for the Material Master.

  1. Under Configuring the Material Master -> Define Structure of Data Screens for Each Screen Sequence, check whether the screen sequence SP exists. Also check whether screen 91 exists in SP and whether it has the type 2 (secondary screen).
  2. Under Assign Secondary Screens, check whether screen 91 of screen sequence SP is assigned to the additional screens. This is the case if a number is entered in the Additional column. If no number is entered, you must assign the screen to the additional screens. To do this, click the "page" icon (with quick info text Add to additional screens).
  3. Edit the IMG activity Assign Screen Sequences to User/Material Type/Transaction/Industry Sector.

Specify who can edit the screen sequence and when it appears.

  4. Under Enhancements -> Enhancement for Archiving MM_MATNR and under Integration of New Objects (Industry and Retail), check whether the named BAdI implementations exist and are active.
  5. Check and assign the required authorizations as necessary.

Further notes

If you want to change the sequence of the tab pages for the screen sequence SP, you must also edit the IMG activity Maintain Order of Main and Additional Screens.
