Use

During filling, the system creates data records in the hazardous substance master from the data from specification management in the SAP Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) component.

In this IMG activity, you specify which source objects in specification management the system takes the data from and in which target objects in the hazardous substance master it creates the data. This means, for example, you specify which value assignment type and characteristic in the property tree in specification management the system takes the value for the flash point from and in which table field in the hazardous substance master it enters this value.

In addition, in this IMG activity you assign source values to the target values. You make this assignment if the source value is a phrase and the target value an indicator. This means you specify which phrase corresponds to the set indicator and which phrase corresponds to the indicator that is not set. In the following cases you do not need to make this assignment:

  • If the source value and target value are numeric values, the system transfers the value from the source object to the target object.
  • If the source value and target value are phrases, the system transfers the phrase key from the source object to the target object. Note that in this case, a phrase set must be assigned to the target object that has the same phrases as the phrase set for the source object. You must assign the same phrase set to the source and target objects in this case.

You can enter a country and a region for each assignment of a source object to a target object. The system takes these entries into account during filling as follows:

  1. First it determines the country and region of the value that is to be filled from the source object.
  2. If it finds an entry in this IMG activity that contains the source object, the country, and the region, it uses the target object from this entry as the target for filling.
  3. If it does not find an entry like this, but finds an entry with the source object and the country without a region, it uses the target object from this entry as the target for filling.
  4. If it also does not find an entry like this, but finds an entry that contains the source object without a country and a region, it uses the target object from this entry as the target for filling.

You thus only need to create one entry in this IMG activity for the objects whose values are not specific for a country or region (for example, header data in the hazardous substance master): one without a country and region specified.
