Use

In this activity you do the following:

  • Define the counters to be updated by the Logbook application. You do this by entering a measurement characteristic. All counters that use this measurement characteristic can be updated by the Logbook. For more information about characteristics, see Characteristic.
  • Assign a counter type to counters used in the Logbook application. The Logbook uses the counter type to assign default values to the counters updated.
  • Assign an update mode for a new counter type or change an update mode for an existing counter type. Predefined counter types are operation time and number of cycles. The default value for updating an operation time counter is equal to the duration between start of operation and end of operation. The default value for a cycle counter is 1.

Activities

  1. To define the counters to be updated by the Logbook, enter a measurement characteristic. To do this, enter the name in the Char column of the characteristic to be used by the counters to be updated. All counters using this measurement characteristic can be updated by the logbook.
  2. To assign a counter type, enter the counter type for the characteristic in the Cntr type column. A counter using a specified characteristic will be considered of the specified type.
  3. To assign an update mode for a new counter type or change an update mode for an existing counter type, enter the update mode in the Upd mode column. The update modes are as follows:
    • Automatic - the standard function to create log measurement documents does not allow you to overwrite the default update value before a log measurement document updating a counter is created. This behavior can be overridden by using the overwrite function in the Logbook.
    • Manual overwrite - the system permits you to overwrite the default update value before a log measurement document updating a counter is created.
    • No overwrite allowed - the system does not permit you to overwrite the default update value before a log measurement document updating a counter is created. This behavior cannot be overridden.
