Use

In this IMG activity, you can check whether the search strategy you have specified actually provides the desired condition information for the employees' work areas.

Requirements

In the Implementation Guide (IMG), the following activities are required:

Standard settings

Important worklist types are already defined for the work areas of sales employees. For more information, see Overview of the Configuration Process.

Activities

You execute the test activity in several process steps. A graphical process overview provides support during navigation and you can use it as an orientation tool in each current process phase. If you want to change the data of a previous step, you can execute the previous step again.

Note:
Changed data for the search criteria or the determined key combinations is not saved in the test activity. If the employees are to get the condition information according to your changed settings, you enter the relevant data in the activities for the condition information.

Execute the following process steps.

Determine Key Combinations

Select a predefined work area. The system displays the following data, which you can change for another test, for example:

  • Header
The system determines the usage and the application (for example, pricing in Purchasing). You can restrict the work area for a condition type if necessary.
  • Item
Based on the header data, the system determines the condition fields from the condition tables. Change the attributes if necessary. For more information, see Define Search Criteria for Item Attributes.

Make Selection

The system uses the specified search criteria to determine the key combinations with the union of key fields.

  • Key combinations

In the list of key combinations, you can exclude any combinations that are not required. This reduces the quantity of key fields.

  • Key fields
    • The list of key fields is the union of all key fields of the selected key combinations.
    • The key fields are part of the selection criteria that your employees can use in the portal. If you want to modify the selection of condition records especially for a specific task, enter either a single value or a value range for a key field.
  • Validity period
    • If the condition records are to be valid on a specific date, you enter the Valid From date only.
    • If the condition records are to be valid within a specific period, you enter the Valid From date and the Valid To date.
    • If the condition records are to be valid on a specific date only or within a specific period without exceeding this period, you set the Strict Search identifier as well.
  • You can restrict the results further by specifying a condition type.

Display Result

The system displays the determined condition information in a tabular overview. The rows contain the individual condition records and the columns contain the associated condition data. If additional data exists, you can display this for the selected condition record.

  • You can configure the overview to change the layout of the overview, such as the column selection and how the columns are sorted. You can use filter data to restrict further the selection of condition records.
  • If you want to use your configuration data again, you can save the display variant. This data is saved as user-specific only.

For work areas that determine price information, the system displays other detailed data (such as scale prices) in an additional overview.

Change Contents of List

If you want to change the contents of the list, the following options are available:

  • In the first step, the system determines the condition records according to the specified search strategy for the key combinations (condition tables).

You can reduce or expand the selection of condition tables involved by redefining the work area (worklist type) for the condition information. Repeat the role-specific activities for the criteria (header attributes and item attributes). Your employees in Sales and Distribution or in Purchasing, for example, cannot change the worklist type.

  • Your employees can modify the list of determined condition records for their current task if you enter values for the key fields. In the test activity, you can simulate these entries but you cannot save them for general usage.
