This section describes which
process instruction characteristics you have to assign when defining process instruction categories of the type dynamic function call for SAP PI sheets.
You must define the following information in a dynamic function call by assigning characteristics:
The characteristics must be assigned in the sequence described in the corresponding section. You determine the sequence of the characteristics using a sort number.
When a process instruction is created, the characteristics of the process instruction category are copied to the process instruction. You can, however, change or delete characteristic assignments in the process instruction.
Characteristic values with general information, such as the function module to be called, can be assigned in the process instruction category. Process-specific values, such as the names of constants to be transferred, can be added in the master recipe or in the process order.
Requirements
Define Characteristics for Process Instructions
Standard settings
The standard system contains dynamic function calls that you can use to carry out the following functions within the SAP PI sheet:
- Calling any transaction
- Confirming phases
- Displaying the material quantity calculation of the order
- Displaying a document of the SAP Document Management System
- Calculating the duration of a time interval
- Calculating the start date of a time interval
- Calculating the finish date of a time interval
For more detailed information on the individual functions, see the documentation of the corresponding function module.
Activities
- If necessary, define the function module you want to call up.
- Assign the required characteristics to the function call. Proceed as follows:
- Select the process instruction of type "dynamic function call" to which you want to assign the characteristics.
- Go to the screen Characteristics/instruct. cat.
- To assign characteristics, choose New entries.
- Enter the sort number and the name of the characteristic you want to assign.
- As an aid, you can display the function module you want to call up.
- Choose Enter and complete the characteristic values if necessary.
- Save the settings.
Further notes
If the value of a characteristic can be assigned automatically in the control recipe or the process order, indicator A (automatic value assignment) is displayed for this characteristic in the instruction category. In the field help for this indicator, you will find information on the value assignment function used for the characteristic.
