This section describes which process instruction characteristics you can assign when defining process instruction categories of type process parameter for the SAP PI sheet.

You can define the following information in a process parameter by assigning characteristics:

The characteristics are displayed in the following sequence:

  • All long texts
  • All other characteristics
  • Pushbuttons for calling up the notes

Within the individual groups, the characteristics are displayed in the sequence in which they were assigned. You can determine the sequence of the characteristics in the process parameter using the sort numbers.

When you create a process instruction in a master recipe or a process order, the characteristics of the process instruction category are copied to the process instruction. You can, however, change or delete the characteristic assignments in the process instruction.

The characteristic values or texts can be entered in the master recipe or the process order.

Standard settings

The standard system contains examples of process parameters for the SAP PI sheet.

Activities

  1. Select the process instruction of the type "process parameter" to which you want to assign characteristics.
  2. Go to the Characteristics/instruct. cat. screen.
  3. To assign characteristics, choose New entries.
  4. Enter the sort number and the name of the characteristics you want to assign.
  5. Choose ENTER and add a characteristic value if required.
  6. Characteristics for which the T indicator has been set are assigned a long text. You maintain this text as follows:
    1. Select the characteristic and choose the Long text function.
      2. The text editor appears.
    2. Enter the text and save it.
      3. Do not use character formats such as bold or italics in the text. They are not taken into account in the PI sheet.
    3. Choose Back to go back to the screen for characteristic assignment.
  7. Save the settings

Further notes

If the value of a characteristic can be assigned automatically in the control recipe or the process order, the "A" indicator (automatic value assignment) is displayed for this characteristic in the instruction category. For more information on the value assignment function used for the characteristic, see field help for the indicator.

Note on BC Sets and Transport

If you include your process instruction categories in a Customizing transport, the corresponding long texts are included in the transport request. However, the long texts cannot be included in a BC set. If you want to include your process instructions in another client or another system with the help of BC sets, you have to include the long texts manually in a workbench request and transport them separately (see Transport long texts of process instruction categories).
