(Decentralized Process Management)
Use
To get an overview of the overall scenario of decentralized process management, we recommend reading the release note Introduction to Decentralized Process Management first.
In this IMG activity, you make additional settings in the characteristics definition in the decentralized SAP system.
Usually, all the master data (such as material masters) is maintained in the central SAP system. If you want to assign values to characteristics such as PPPI_MATERIAL in the decentralized system, it is useful if all relevant material types can also be called up through value help there. However, this data is not available through the standard value help. You can only display the data maintained in the decentralized system.
To have access to the master data from the central system through value help in the decentralized system, you must specify the RFC destination of the central system in which the master data is maintained for each characteristic in characteristics definition.
Note that the relevant characteristic must also be available in the decentralized system and have the same technical properties (format, length, decimal places, and so on).

Settings in the Decentralized SAP System
- On the Basic data tab, choose Proc.mgmt.
- Make the following settings in the Value Help and Check in Remote System group box:
- The RFC destination of the central system in which the master data is maintained
- Details about how the system is to behave if there is a communication error with the remote system when the value help or input validation is called
- Choose Continue and save.
