In this work step, you determine the number range for configuration definitions.
Each configuration definition is uniquely identified by a number within clients.
There are two types of number assignment:
- Internal number assignment
When you create a configuration definition, the SAP System automatically assigns a consecutive number from the number interval that you determined.
- External number assignment
When you create a configuration definition, you assign a number from the valid number interval.

You transport number range objects as follows:
Choose Interval -> Transport in the accounting document Number Range screen.
All intervals for the selected number range object are deleted in the target system first. After the import, only the intervals you export are present. The number statuses are imported with their values at the time of export.
Dependent tables are not transported or converted.
