Use
In this IMG activity, you define for each of your locations which (location-driven) storage categories override which standard storage categories.
Requirements
The location-driven storage categories must already be defined.
Standard settings
Activities
- In the column Location choose the location for which you want to change the storage location that is normally used.
- In the column Logical Categories choose the standard storage category that you wish to override..
- In the column Derived Category choose the storage category assigned to the desired content repository on the local content server.
- Repeat this for each standard storage category that you want to override for a particular location.
To ensure that content from the derived category can be combined with content from the logical category in the transport (for example, in a consolidation system), you may not override different logical categories with the same derived category.
Example
In the training documentation area (IWBTRAIN), maintained PowerPoint documents normally have the storage category IWB2SRC. This was assigned to the content repository KWS_IWBTRAIN that you have set up on a content server in Chicago. All PowerPoint documents in your Knowledge Warehouse system are therefore normally stored on this server.
In order to allow authors in Australia to access the documents quickly, you have set up another server in Sydney, where there are content repositories including the repository KWS_IWBTRAIN_SYDNEY. You have defined a new storage category IWB2SRCSYD and assigned it to the repository KWS_IWBTRAIN_SYDNEY. You have defined the location SYDNEY and specified for that location that the storage category IWB2SRC will be overriden by IWB2SRCSYD.
Authors who use the user parameter LCA to assign themselves to the location SYDNEY now store their PowerPoint documents on the content server in Sydney.
