Use

In this IMG activity, you define number ranges for keys used for sessions.

Every session is clearly identified within oneclient by a key.

There are two types ofnumber assignment:

  • Internal number assignment

When you create a session, the SAP system automatically assigns a sequence number from the number range interval that you have specified.

  • External number assignment

When you create a session, you must specify a number from the permitted number range interval.

Requirements

Authorization for number range object ESN_SESSID is required, to allow you to define number ranges for the keys used for sessions. This object is checked in authorization object S_NUMBER.

Standard settings

Number ranges are predefined in the SAP standard settings.

Activities

  1. Take note of the SAP-predefined number keys.
  2. Change or delete the number range contained in the SAP standard system, as required.
  3. Specify the internal and external number ranges with number range intervals.

Notes for transport

You transport number range objects as follows:

Choose Interval -> Transport in the accounting document Number Range screen.

All intervals for the selected number range object are deleted in the target system first. After the import, only the intervals you export are present. The number statuses are imported with their values at the time of export.

Dependent tables are not transported or converted.
