To use the Configuration Engine for interactive configuration in the mySAP ERP a configuration user interface (UI) is required. Configuration UIs are defined by a set of parameters which are allocated by Extended Configuration Management (XCM) scenarios. As XCM scenarios are supported outside of mySAP ERP by a J2EE server, you have to set up a connection to the J2EE server and reference the XCM scenario that comprises the configuration UI you want to apply.

Preconditions

A configuration UI and an XCM scenario have been set up.

As a configuration template named erp is used to set up an XCM scenario, make sure to provide a specific name for the XCM scenario you want to reference.

For more information on setting up an XCM scenario see SAP Solution Manager -> mySAP CRM -> Configurations Structures -> mySAP CRM 5.0 -> Basic Settings for 5.0 -> Web Applications.

Connect mySAP ERP with J2EE Server

The connection between ECC and a J2EE server is set up by maintaining the Remote Function Call (RFC) destination IPC_CONFIGURATION_UI. Use the classical transaction SM59 to maintain the RFC destination.

1. Create a new RFC destination for HTTP Connections to an external Server

2. For RFC Destination enter: IPC_CONFIGURATION_UI

3. Set Connection Type to G

4. For the Path Prefix enter: /ipc/ipc/command.do

5. Maintain the other settings according to the specific needs of your environment e.g. the host (Target Host), the port (ServiceNo.) etc.

Reference a specific XCM Scenario

Use the Implementation Guide (IMG) to reference XCM scenario(s). Create a new entry for the table XCM scenarios for calling IPC UI.

1. Locate column Application using IPC UI and choose ERP: Variant Configuration with IPC as Configurator Engine (currently only this application is supported).

2. Locate column SubAppl. and choose for the sub application:

a) Default. This sub application is mandatory for each application.

You can set two additional sub applications creating optional entries:

b) Simulation, if you want to reference a different XCM scenario for simulating the interactive configuration.

c) Sales processing, if you want to reference a different XCM scenario for interactive configuration in the sales order processing.

3. Locate column XCM scenario(s) and enter the name of the XCM scenario to be referenced for the sub application Default.

Additionally enter the name(s) of the XCM scenario(s) to be used for the sub applications Simulation and/or Sales processing if you have created these optional entries.

Note

You can overwrite the standard RFC destination IPC_CONFIGURATION_UI with user specific destinations maintaining the user profile. Choose System -> User Profile -> Own Data. On tab Parameters enter the Parameter ID IPC_CONFIGURATION_UI and for the according Parameter Value enter the user specific RFC destination.
