Description
External test tool settings in SAP CATT. The test tool must support the SAP CATT external interface.
Example
The first example shows a user-dependent customizing setting for the SAP user "Model01". If this uses a CATT test module in the format of the external test tool of the manufacturer "Company", the ActiveX component interface with the program ID "Company.CompanyCtrl.1" is used. The external CATT test module uses the key "CP" to specify the data formats of different manufacturers.

The second example shows a user-independent customizing setting. In this case the test tool of the manufacturer "Company" is always used if there is an external CATT module with the manufacturer "CP", regardless of which user called the CATT test module. This is indicated by the entry "N" in the user control field. The user name field must be empty.

Requirements
Installation of an external test tool which uses the standardized SAP CATT desktop interface. The SAP CATT functions are not restricted by the use of the external test tool.
Authorization group STAT (authorization object S_TABU_DIS) is required for maintenance.
Standard settings
The customizing settings depend on the external test tool manufacturer. All fields in the customizing table must be maintained if an external test tool is to be used.
Recommendation
The installation is only necessary for testing components which run both outside and inside the SAP system, e.g. the SAP Internet application components.
Activities
You must make the following entries in the customizing maintenance dialog:
User name: the SAP System user who runs the test, or space and "N" in the user control field.
User control: specifies whether the SAP user name is relevant for the use of a particular external test tool (in this case enter "Y" in this field). If all SAP users use the same test tool, enter "N" here. You must enter either "Y" or "N".
ActiveX ProgID: the ActiveX component program ID which is used by the SAP CATT desktop interface. The external test tool installation always includes the ActiveX component.
Manufacturer name: the name of the manufacturer of the external test tool. This can become the name of the SAP maintenance dialog pushbutton for CATT modules of type X.
Manufacturer code: a two-character code for the name of the external test tool which is used as a key to distinguish between CATT modules in the format of different manufacturers. The code is displayed with the name of the external test module in the SAP System internal file list.
Further notes
The customizing settings are client-specific to allow the use of external test tools from different manufacturers in different clients.
If there are user-dependent (user control field value "Y") and user-independent customizing settings (user control field value "N"), the user-dependent settings are always active if they match the user of the CATT test module.
The customizing table name is "CATCU".
