In this activity you designate a default portal. You can also make settings that are relevant to information broadcasting.

If you do not maintain this table, the corresponding menu entries for publishing in the BEx Web Application Designer and BEx Query Designer are deactivated.

Activities

Complete the the following activities in order to maintain the portal server settings for the portal:

  1. Start table view maintenance (transaction code SM30).
  2. Enter RSPOR_T_PORTAL as the table.
  3. Choose Maintain.
  4. Choose New Entries to create a new entry.
  5. Maintain the connected portal:
    • RFC destination: <RFC_DESTINATION>
    • System name: <SYSTEMALIAS> (see step Creating BW Systems in the Portal)
    • Default: <DEFAULT>
    • Portal URL prefix: <PORTAL_URL_PREFIX>, for example, http://<portalserver><domain>:<port>
    • Prefix of RM for BW Metadata: <KM_RM_METADATA_PREFIX>, for example, /bw_metadata
    • KM service URL: <blank>
  6. Save your entries.

RFC Destination and System Name

An RFC destination has to be maintained for the integration of a BW system and the portal. You do this in transaction SM59. Enter the RFC destination in the Connected Portals table (RSPOR_T_PORTAL) so that the RFC destination is recognized as the connected portal.

The BW system uses the RFC destination to communicate with the portal. An RFC destination corresponds to one connected portal. The System Name field is the same as the alias in the BW system. The alias is defined in the portal. The system name allows iViews in SAP NetWeaver Portal to be assigned uniquely to a BW system.

Settings for Information Broadcasting

As well as the RFC destination and system name, you can maintain the Default, URL Prefix, KM Metad.RM Prefix and KM Service URL fields in the Connected Portals table (RSPOR_T_PORTAL). You have to maintain these fields for information broadcasting. The BEx Broadcaster requires this information in order to offer input help for the Knowledge Management folders. The prefix of the BW Metadata Repository Manager is required for storing online links to queries or BEx Web applications in Knowledge Management. These fields are not required for other scenarios.

In the table you have to select just one portal to set it as the default portal. When you select folders in the BEx Broadcaster, the selected portal is used.

You can overwrite the default portal with parameter ID RSPOR_DEFAULT_PORTAL (SET/GET parameter):

  1. In the SAP GUI choose System -> User Profile -> Own Data from the menu.
  2. On the Parameter tab page, enter parameter ID RSPOR_DEFAULT_PORTAL and the corresponding parameter value. The parameter value is the name of the RFC destination from the Connected Portals table.

The URL Prefix field contains the URL to the portal, including protocol, host name and port.

Maintain the prefix of the BW Metadata Repository Manager in the KM Metadata RM Prefix field. This prefix is set when the Repository Manager is set up.

KM Service URL allows you to use another service for input help for Knowledge Management folder. As there is only one service at present, this field has to remain blank.

If you do not maintain this table, the corresponding menu entries for publishing in the BEx Web Application Designer and BEx Query Designer are deactivated.

The Connected Portals table is fully buffered. After this table has been maintained, the table buffer has to be initialized on the BW system application servers. This can be done in the SAP GUI with /$tab.

Overview

This activity is a step in report Maintain Settings for Integration to Portal (RSPOR_SETUP). This report supports you in maintaining settings for integrating BW and the portal. Alternatively, you can call the individual steps in transactions RSPOR_CUST01 to RSPOR_CUST13.

The necessary parameters are requested upon execution. The individual parameters are described in the documentation Overview: Integration into Portal.
