In this activity, you set the parameters that are valid for all archiving objects in data archiving (application specific and cross-archiving-object).
- Data Archiving Monitor
You select this checkbox to activate the data archiving monitor (part of the Alert Monitor, transaction RZ20). You can then monitor and analyze the write and delete phases of archiving sessions.
- Access check for archive selection
You use this function to read, delete, evaluate, reload, or check the existence of an archive file during archive selection.
- For Files in File System The access check includes all archives files that are in the file system.
- For Stored Files: The access check includes all archives files that are in a storage system.
- Implicit Interruption of the Write Phase
Permits the interruption of the write phase of archiving objects (if supported). You can control the interruption time according to the following criteria: The criterion that is fulfilled first causes the interruption automatically. The other criteria do not have to be fulfilled.
- Maximum duration in hours: Time (in hours) from the release of the write job up to the automatic interruption
- Maximum MB per session: Amount of data (in MB) per archiving session as of which automatic interruption occurs
- Server Group for Background Processing
You can define on which application server(s) the archiving job is to run. If there is no server group, you can create one with transaction SM61. The system distributes the individual archiving jobs on the application servers of the specified server group. The following applies for preprocessing, postprocessing, and write jobs that are executed in Archive Administration (transaction SARA).
- These jobs are scheduled with a higher priority (job class A).
- If the specified server group contains an application server that runs on the database computer, these jobs are planned there.
- ILM Application Service
If you want use SAP NetWeaver ILM to manage the life cycle of archived data, you can define which Storage and Retention Service (SRS) is to be used for data storage.
- Remote: SRS runs on a different AS ABAP. You need to enter the HTTP connection to the server.
- Local: You use the SRS that runs locally on the AS ABAP.
