In this step, you define substitution reasons for material determination. The substitution reasons are entered in the master records for material determination.

You can specify additional control parameters and system responses for each substitution reason:

  • You can specify whether the substituted material is included in relevant output types (for example, order confirmation), so that you can tell what the original material was after material determination has been carried out.
  • You can control whether the system issues a warning message before it substitutes a material.
  • You can specify whether a material is automatically substituted by another, or whether several possible substitutes are displayed for selection.
  • With the outcome, you specify whether a document item is replaced or whether the substitute is created as a subitem of the original entry.

Activities

  1. Enter an alphanumeric key with a maximum of 4 characters together with a textual description.
  2. Specify the control parameters for the substitution reason.
  3. Ensure that the reason for substitution is entered in the master records for material determination.
