Use

Records and Case Management Public Sector uses the following components of the SAP NetWeaver Application Server:

  • Records Management
  • Case Management

The integration of the two components facilitates electronic record and document management for public sector. Note that these individual components are referred to in the following IMG documentation and in the links to documentation in the SAP Library.

Standard-specific terminology for DOMEA, TNA, and DoD

There are three standards for Public Sector Records and Case Management (PSRM):

  • DOMEA (Document Management and Electronic Archiving)
  • TNA (The National Archives)
  • DoD (US Department of Defense, Standard 5015.2)

All three standards have different functions and terminology. The following section provides you with an overview of the objects used, the standard-specific terminology, and the corresponding Basis object:

Terminology in Customizing

The terminology of the business object Case from the component Case Management is used differently in each of the standards. To be consistent across all three standards, the Basis term case is used for the Records and Case Management customizing settins

Example:
In Records and Case Management customizing, you define both case types (DOMEA) and folder types (TNA) in the IMG activity Define Case Types.

Terminology in the Application

You can define standards-specific or customer-specific terminology in the electronic desk application. You can choose from a selection of predefined profiles in the Customizing activity Create Terminology Profile You can also create additional customer-specific profiles here.

You assign the descriptors defined in the terminology profiles

  1. The case types used in the Customizing activity Define Case Types and
  2. The element types used in the Customizing activity Set Registry.
