Use

You can define case types in this IMG activity (see: PSRM Terminology).

The case type is the main characteristic of a case which combines the various Customizing settings (attribute-, function-, status-, text, terminology profile).

Note: The user must enter a case type when creating a case.

Requirements

You have already created the corresponding profiles for the functions, attributes, status and so on, or copied them from the master (client 000) to the current client.

Standard settings

SAP delivers a number of sample case types (for example, case type DEMO).

Activities

You have to make an entry for the following parameters to define a case type:

  • Case type

    Technical name of case type

  • Description of case type

    Descriptive name for case type

  • Process

Process to which the case type should be assigned. Select one of the processes displayed using input help.

The process is used for controlling BAdIs. The BAdIs are used to define which checks should be carried out or which industry-specific routines should be run.

Note: All Case Management BAdIs start with the abbreviation "SCMG".

  • Case model ID

Document ID of the model of the case. To determine the document ID, you can use the input help in this field.

Note: You must also enter the model in the registry in the element type for the case container as a value for the connection parameter MODEL_ID.

  • RMS ID

ID of the current Records Management Systems (RMS).

  • Element type ID (case)

Technical name of the element type which should be based on the case notes created for this case type.

  • Element type ID (case container)

Technical name of the element type which should be based on the case container.

Note: For this element type, the case model you entered in the column case model ID must be entered as an allowed model (Connection-Parameter MODEL-ID) in the registry.

  • Element type ID (notes)

Technical name of element type which should be based on the case notes.

  • Internal number range

Number of a number range you created in the IMG activity Create Number Range Interval. The system assigns a number in this number range for the case. This is displayed as a value for the attribute external key in the case.

  • Early number

Indicator which determines at what time the number is assigned.

If you set this indicator, the number is assigned when the case is created even before it is saved.

If you do not set this indicator, the number is only assigned when the case is saved.

  • Attribute profile

Technical name of an attribute profile you have created.

  • Function profile

Technical name of a function profile you have created.

  • Status profile

Technical name of a status profile you have created.

  • Text profile notes

Technical name of text profile you have created.

  • Process Route

Indicator which determines whether a process route is used for sending a case.

If you set this indicator, the attribute processor has no meaning because in this case, the subsequent processor of the case is determined by the process route defined previously.

If you do not set this indicator, the user sets the subsequent processor of the case using an entry for the attribute processor.

  • Terminology profile

Technical name of the terminology profile you created.

Notes:

  • The case type is a field (CASETYPE) in the authorization object for Case Management (S_SCMG_CAS). The case types you define in this IMG activity can be entered in the authorization object for the field CASETYPE.
  • There are two set/get parameters for the case:
    • SCMG_CTYPE: (case processing: default value for case type) which is proposed when a case is created (must be valid in the current area and in the current RMS). You assign the technical name of a case type as a value.
    • SCMG_DSUB: case processing: default subcomponent) which is displayed if a case is called for the first time. You enter a number as a value (in accordance with the sequence of the case component) or the FCODE of the case components. The notes are displayed if the parameter is not set.
