In this activity, you define your sorting variants.
You assign sorting variants to clearing variants in the Define clearing variants activity.
You define sorting variants by specifying up to five fields in the business partner item. The sequence of the fields defines the sorting levels.
You can prioritize the contents of fields that are not supposed to be sorted by field content (see the Define sort field priority activity. Mark Self-def. priority for these fields.
Example
Sort variant S01 sorts open items in automatic clearing as follows:
- Level 1:
Sorting by statistical key - that is, posted items related to the general ledger prior to statistically posted items.
- Level 2:
Sorting by due date, using the oldest item first.
The following items are open in an account:

When defining this variant, you must first specify the field for the statistical key and then the field for the due date. You must also define the priority of the sorting fields for the "Statistical key" field.
