Use
If you only enter the business partner item or transfer using the posting interfaces, the system completes the document (for example, adds the revenue and tax items). If a segment is already specified in the business partner items entered/transferred, this is transferred to the revenue items assigned.
If no segment is assigned, the industry-specific derivation rules for the segment apply first. If these also determine no segment, the segment is derived using the details in this activity.
Requirements
You make the basic settings required for using the segment in the SAP Customizing Implementation Guide under Enterprise Structure -> Definition -> Financial Accounting -> Define Segment.
