Use
In this IMG activity you specify which value IDs carry the various values for fixed asset postings, and assign these value IDs to the value fields of the asset posting document.
The system supports a range of postings on the asset master record that belongs to the contract item. There are two categories of postings:
- Acquisition postings
- Retirement postings
For acquisition postings, you have to specify the transaction type and the values to be posted. For simple acquisition postings, only one acquisition amount is normally relevant. However, this amount can start to vary as soon as you use different accounting principles. For example, you may be required to capitalize the acquisition costs in one depreciation area, and your own production costs in another.
Acquisition postings can also be involved in the case of a change process (such as a base lease extension), when the existing fixed asset is first retired and then replaced with a new asset master record with new values and depreciation terms (for example, useful life) that is then capitalized.
For this type of acquisition postings, it is possible to distinguish between a net acquisition and a gross acquisition. The net acquisition does not differ from a simple acquisition, as far as the specifications in this IMG activity are concerned. The gross acquisition requires the posting of proportional depreciation in addition to the capitalized amount.
