Use

This Business Add-In (BAdI) is used in Product and REACH Compliance in the document management system. You can use this BAdI to extend the DMS functionality or replace the standard DMS implementation with another document storage. In order to use it, implement the following methods:

  • /TDAG/IF_EX_RCS_BADI_DMS~CHECK_STRUCTURE
This method receives the ID of a substance and can be used to check documents that are assigned to this substance. It returns a message that signals failures.
  • /TDAG/IF_EX_RCS_BADI_DMS~DELETE_DOC
This method deletes the supplied document. The document to delete is identified by type, number, part, and version. Additionally, adocument, as part of a BOM, can be supplied in an additional set of parameters (P_DOCUMENTTYPE, P_DOCUMENTNUMBER, P_DOCUMENTPART, and P_DOCUMENTVERSION).
  • /TDAG/IF_EX_RCS_BADI_DMS~GET_DOC_SEARCH
This method is for internal use.
  • /TDAG/IF_EX_RCS_BADI_DMS~GET_LINK
This method returns the document link (type, number, part, and version) of the document(s) specified by the supplied search criteria. If the flag ALL_DOCUMENTS is set, all documents are returned.
  • /TDAG/IF_EX_RCS_BADI_DMS~GET_PDF_URL
Returns the URL of one specific document. The document is specified by its type, number, part, and version. The method then returns a link with which the document can be opened by a Web browser. Errors are signalled by a corresponding message in structure RETURN.
  • /TDAG/IF_EX_RCS_BADI_DMS~QUERY_EP_DOCS
This method returns all endpoint documents that are assigned to the specified substance.
  • /TDAG/IF_EX_RCS_BADI_DMS~UPDATE_EP
This method updates all endpoint documents for the specified substance. The table DMSLINK contains the documents assigned to an endpoint chapter code.
  • /TDAG/IF_EX_RCS_BADI_DMS~SEARCH_STRUCT
This method is for internal use.
  • /TDAG/IF_EX_RCS_BADI_DMS~IS_UPLOAD_SUPPORTED
This method returns true if this BAdI implementation supports document upload. In this case, you must implement the UPLOAD method to support the upload.
  • /TDAG/IF_EX_RCS_BADI_DMS~UPLOAD
This method provides a means to upload documents into the document management system. It is called with the document type, number (if external number is provided), part, and version as well as the document content itself in table IT_ATTACHMENT. This method must return the full document link (type, number (possibly internal number range), part, and version).

Requirements

Standard settings

In the standard system, the Business Add-In is not activated.

Activities

After you call the IMG activity, the system displays a dialog box where you enter a name for the implementation.

If implementations of this Business Add-In have already been created, the system displays them in a dialog box. You then choose one of them by choosing Create, and continue as follows:

  1. In the dialog box, enter a name for the implementation of the Add-In and choose Create.
The system displays the initial screen for creating Business Add-In implementations.
  2. On this screen, enter a short description for your implementation in the Implementation Short Text field.
  3. If you choose the Interface tab, you will notice that the system has populated the Name of the Implementing Class field automatically, by assigning a class name based on the name of your implementation.
  4. Save your entries and assign the Add-In to a package.
  5. To edit a method, double-click its name.
  6. Enter your implementation code between the method <Interface Name>~<Name of Method>. and endmethod. statements.
  7. Save and activate your code. Navigate back to the Change Implementation screen.
Note: You can also create an implementation for an Add-In and not activate it until later. If you want to do this, do not perform the following step:
  8. Choose Activate.
When the application program is executed, the code you created is run through.
