Use

In this Customizing activity, you initialize SAP Product and REACH Compliance with master data and company-specific data from the International Material Data System (IMDS). This enables you to use SAP Product and REACH Compliance as an IMDS in-house solution. The IMDS provides the data (IMDS initial files and IMDS all files). You can download this data via the IMDS Advanced Interface and then import them into your system.

Requirements

Download Files

  • You have requested the company-specific IMDS all files. For more information about requesting company-specific IMDS all files, see the IMDS download manual.

Import Files

  • You have created the download, archive and error directories on the application server. We recommend that you use the following folder structure to import the IMDS All files
    • Download folder: \\Application_Server\…\SPRC_Files\Import\
    • Archive folder: \\Application_Server\…\SPRC_Files\Archive\
    • Error folder: \\Application_Server\…\SPRC_Files\Error\
    • To customize the directories, use the FILE transaction:

  1. Create the following logical path:
  • Logical File Path: SPRC_HOME_PATH
  • Name: Product and REACH Compliance Home Path
  1. Create the following logical file name definitions:

Logical file    Name    Physical File    Data Format    Application Area    Logical Path

SPRC_ARCHIVE_DIR    Product and REACH Compliance Archive Directory    import\archive    DIR        SPRC_HOME_PATH

SPRC_ERROR_DIR    Product and REACH Compliance Error Directory    import\error    DIR        SPRC_HOME_PATH

SPRC_IMPORT_DIR    Product and REACH Compliance Import Directory    import    DIR        SPRC_HOME_PATH

Activities

Download Files

  1. You must download CMSAll and MODAll. If you want to use the request function, you must also download REQAll.
  2. Note: You must request company-specific files before you can download them.
  3. You download the common files directly from the IMDS. You must download CCAll, MPAll, SBAll, SGAll, and the Substance Applications file.

You must download the Substance Applications file manually from the IMDS:

    1. Use your IMDS AI user to log in to the IMDS and navigate to the administration menu.
    2. Open the download section.
    3. Select the Substance Applications file in CSV format from the dropdown list and download it.
    4. Store the Substance Applications file on your front-end PC.

You can download the other files and directly store them in the application server download folder using theDownload from IMDS function.

    5. Select the download type to specify the file type that you want to download.
    6. Select the download date. This field is prefilled with the previous day since this is always the newest file available.
    7. Set Target Server Directory as the download folder.

Import Files

You can import the files (except the Substance Applications file) usingImport from Application Server function or you can perform the import in the background (F9). You must import the files in the following order:

  1. SBAll

Select the SBAll file and choose Create Import Job (F9). When the import is finished successfully, all substance data is imported. Select the file and choose Move File to Archive Directory.

  2. SGAll

Select the SGAll file and choose Import. When the import is finished successfully, only the process chemicals are imported. Select the file and choose Move File to Archive Directory.

  3. CCAll

Select the CCAll file and choose Import. When the import is finished successfully, all company and contact person data is imported. Select the file and choose Move File to Archive Directory.

  4. Substance Applications

You can import this file from your front-end PC using theImport Exemptions function (transaction /TDAG/CPI06). Use the following settings: Regulatory/Customer List: GADSL; Identification Type: IMDS_NODE.

  5. REQAll

This file is optional. You must import it if you want to use the IMDS request function. Select the REQAll file and choose Import. When the import is finished successfully, request data is imported. Select the file and choose Move File to Archive Directory.

  6. MPAll

You must split this file before performing the import. To filter and split the file, choose Filter (Ctrl+F2). You can also use theFilter and Split report. Maintain the following values:

    • File Name
    • Split Size (MB)
    • Target File Prefix: MPAll.dat
    • Each of the split files is given a numeric extension (for example, MPAll_0001.dat, MPAll _0002.dat, MPAll _0003.dat, and so on)
    • Final delete of source file: Yes

We recommend that you specify filter criteria when processing the MPAll file due to the large amount of data. For example, published data sheets from the IMDS committee and from selected suppliers as well as own published datasheets (identified by the sender organization ID). We recommend that you use the same filter criteria that will be used later for processing the MPDaily file.

The split files are stored automatically in the download folder of your application server. Now you can start the import for all parts of the MPAll file by selecting all MPAll files and choosing Create Import Job (F9). After the import, select the files and choose Move File to Archive Directory.

  7. CMSAll

If the file is bigger than 10 MB, you must split the file. You can use the Filter and Split report to split the file. Select the CMSAll file and choose Create Import Job (F9). When the import is finished successfully, all MDS data is imported. Select the file and choose Move File to Archive Directory.

  8. MODAll

This file is optional. If the file is too big, you can use the Filter and Split report to split it. Select the MODAll file and choose Import. When the import is finished successfully, all module data is imported. Select the file and choose Move File to Archive Directory.
