Use
In this Customizing activity, you define thechecks that you can perform on the product structure.
You use checks to ensure that correct and complete specification data is available in order to meet regulatory and industry-specific obligations. You can also use checks, for example, to create tasks and messages automatically if the check determines that data is missing or incomplete. You can use checks to perform the following functions:
- Verify the data and data structure of a product (for example, BASE check function)
- Find out whether a product violates any regulations in your industry (for example, RoHS and GADSL check functions)
- Find out whether product data is missing or incomplete (for example, REACH-ASSM, REACH-UDET, REACH-UCOV)
- Ensure correct data exchange by using standardized data formats (for example, IMDS and AIAG check functions)
Requirements
Standard settings
The standard system contains checks for the process industry and the discrete industry. The checks are listed below with the corresponding composition groups that are considered during the check.
Process Industry
The following checks are provided for the process industry:
Check Composition Groups
REACH-ASSM (Material Assessment) Input Composition
Use and Exposure Composition
REACH-UDET (Use and Exposure Determination) Input Composition
Standard Composition
Use and Exposure Composition
Customer Listing
REACH-UCOV (Use and Exposure Coverage) Input Composition
Standard Composition
Use and Exposure Composition
Customer Listing
Supplier Specification Listing
Discrete Industry
The following checks are provided for the discrete industry:
BASE (Base Check)
ROHS (Restriction of Use of Hazardous Substances)
CHINA ROHS (Compliance Check China RoHS)
IMDS (International Material Data System)
AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group)
GADSL (Global Automotive Declarable Substance List)
JIG (Joint Industry Guide)
REACH-SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern)
The Input Composition, Standard Composition and Supplier Specification Listing composition groups are considered during the checks for the discrete industry.
Activities
Determine the standard system checks that are required and appropriate for your industry. If necessary, perform the following steps to configure the checks:
- Define thecriteria for each check.
- To set a check as the default check for the compliance workbench, select the Default checkbox.
- If you use the same check function for more than one check, enter a value in the Regulatory/Customer List field. This entry acts as a variable parameter for the check. The check result is written only for the entered regulation.
- Assign one or more tasks to each criterion.
- Specify the material categories.
- If you want to use the check for other composition groups, you must exchange the user exit function of the check.
Example
Further notes
If you define your own check function, it must comply with the corresponding reference function module in user exit management. For more information, see Customizing for Product and REACH Compliance under User Exits -> Manage User Exits.
