Use
The MRP area represents an organizational unit which carries out material requirements planning independently. There are basically three types of MRP areas: Plant MRP area, MRP area for Storage Locations and MRP area for Subcontractors. To represent a contract packager (CP), the MRP area for Storage Locations is used because of the requirements of stock visibility in both mySAP ERP and in SAP SCM systems.
A business type is assigned to an MRP area to distinguish between MRP areas used for different business scenarios. For a contract packager, the business type is set to contract packager. If the business type is blank, then the MRP area is a standard MRP area, which is used in standard material requirement planning. The business type can be extended if new business scenarios are involved in the future.
This customizing activity is used only to define MRP areas that represent contract packagers. If you want to define a MRP area that is not involved in a contract packager scenario, go to Define MRP Areas
