Use

The following sections provide an overview of the customizing activities necessary to enable the usage of contract packager (CP) inbound .

Requirements

You can use the functionalities supported for CP only after activating Service Parts Management (SPM).

To define MRP areas, you should have already activated material requirements planning for MRP areas Activate MRP for MRP Areas. This step will only be done once in the system.

And furthermore, you have already converted planning file entries for MRP areas, this step will only be done once in the system, Convert Planning File Entries for MRP Areas

Activities

General Settings

To set up the master data model for CP, carry out the following general activities:

  1. Define the organizational structure for the receiving plants, to which the contract packager warehouses belong to as follows :
    1. Define receiving plants for contract packager warehouses

Every contract packager warehouse must be assigned to a plant in ERP. You can define plants as organizational units under Logistics General Definition -> Define Plants.
    2. Define storage locations, which represent the contract packager within the receiving plants. And maintain the address of the storage location.

In general, two storage locations per CP are recommended:
Received On Dock(ROD) and Available For Sale (AFS)
You can define storage locations as organizational units of Material Management in Define Storage Locations. You can maintain the address of the storage location. Maintain storage location
    3. Define MRP areas for the receiving plant and the storage locations for contract packager

Each contract packager represents an MRP area. The purpose of these MRP areas is to separate the material requirements planning at CP level and to make CPs visible in the supply chain planning engine as stand-alone locations. Those MRP areas always have the type as storage location and business type as contract packager. The receiving storage location of such an MRP area is recommended to be the one you want to use on your purchasing document, e.g. scheduling agreement. You can define the MRP areas in MRP Area with Business Type.
    4. Maintain the address of a contract packager

The address of the contract packager in general is different from the receiving plant. If the address of the receiving storage location of a CP is empty, then the corresponding CP will not get transferred to SAP CRM system. You can enter the address for the receiving storage location of an MRP area in Maintain storage location
    5. Assign receiving plants and storage locations of CPs to warehouse numbers

A contract packager is managed by EWM as a normal warehouse, which has a warehouse number assigned. You can configure warehouse numbers as organizational units of Logistics Execution in Define Warehouse Number and Assign Warehouse Number to Plant/Storage Location. Also perform the activities in Integrate SPM with Other Components.
    6. Define shipping/goods receiving points and assign them to the receiving plant and CP storage locations.

The shipping/goods receiving points assigned to the CP warehouses need to be defined and assigned. You can define shipping/goods receiving points as organizational units of Logistics Execution in Define Shipping Points. You can make the assignment between shipping/goods receiving points and plant in Assign Shipping Point to Plant. You can make the assignment between shipping points, receiving plant and the storage locations in Assign goods receiving points for inbound deliveries.
  2. Assign materials to the plants and storage locaitons of a CP
You can assign a plant and storage location to a material using the material master maintenance transaction. You have to maintain the MRP areas of the MRP 1 segment of the material master.
  3. The MRP areas have to be downloaded via CRM Middleware into CRM system. During the downloading, a business partner will be created in CRM for the corresponding MRP area. After downloading, maintain the 'sold-to-party' role with the classification 'customer' und the 'vendor' role in via transaction BP in CRM, then save the business partner. This triggers an automatic import of the business partner into the ERP system, both as cutomer, and as vendor. You need to then complete the sales and purchasing data of the partners.
  4. Assign the corresponding cutomer and vendor to your storage location in Define Shipping Data for Stock Transfers between Storage Locs.
  5. For all other inbound process related customizing settings refer to Basic Settings for Inbound Process.

Functions to support contract packagers are not active in the standard system.
