Use
When creating a material, you can mark it in such a way that it is managed in EWM as a catch weight material. You specify this via the attributeCategory of Unit of Measure. After saving, the system prohibits any change in the logistical unit of measure or even the revocation of the catch-weight relevance. In general, a complete check is not possible because checks can also be necessary in the EWM system. This also affects materials created just a short while previously of which there are as yet no stocks or which are not yet used in documents.
The blocking of subsequent changes is realized via a default implementation of this BAdI, in which a corresponding error message is issued.
However, you can introduce the checks that are relevant in your case in your system landscape in a BAdI implementation of your own and - depending on the check result - also allow subsequent changes.
Requirements
Standard settings
In the standard SAP system, it is not possible to carry out all necessary checks (e.g. stocks in ERP and EWM, open documents in ERP and EWM). For this reason, there is no provision for the subsequent changing of the catch-weight relevance.
Activities
Create a new implementation, program your own checks (if necessary, a special user authorization) and activate your implementation.
