Use

In this Customizing activity you define the processing methods on the business process level of a component. With this you can enhance or overwrite the system settings for the processing methods.

If you want to make the settings on the software component level, use the Customizing activity Define Processing Methods and Assign Object Types.

The processing methods are available in the Processing Methods group box of the object area in the detail screen of Postprocessing Desktop.

Details of your options are as follows:

  • You can assign your own methods or ones supplied by SAP to an object type that you have defined. No entry is needed for methods that you have defined in the Business Object Repository (BOR). These are displayed automatically in the Processing Methods group box.
  • You can assign additional methods to an object type supplied by SAP. These can be your own methods, or methods supplied by SAP.
  • You can deactivate methods supplied by SAP or your own methods.
  • You can change the description of the methods supplied by SAP and/or change the display sequence of the methods in the Processing Methods group box.

Requirements

If you wish to use your own processing methods, you have first created them in the BOR, in the Class Builder or in the Function Builder. For more information, see the field help for the Processing Method.

The business processes must be defined in the system settings. Object types must be assigned to the business processes.

If you want to use your own object types, in Customizing for Postprocessing Office (CA-GTF-TS-PPO), you have selected Object Types and performed the Customizing activity Define Object Types.

Standard settings

To display the processing methods and other system settings supplied by SAP with the standard system, use the Customizing activity Display System Settings for the Postprocessing Office. For more information about the relevant system tables, see the documentation for this activity.

Activities

  1. Select a software component and a business process.
  2. Select an object type. The system displays both the object types supplied by SAP and those you have defined for you to choose from.
  3. Choose a method supplied by SAP or specify your own method, whose key is within the customer namespace (the key starts with Y or Z).
  4. Enter a description. If you have chosen a combination of object type and method supplied by SAP, you can overwrite the description provided by SAP here.
  5. Activate or deactivate the method. Deactivated methods are not available to you in the Processing Methods group box.
  6. Specify a number for the position in which you want the method to appear in the Processing Methods group box. If you have chosen a combination of object type and method supplied by SAP, you can change the standard position.
