The Information Worker checktool allows you to perform various checks on all the installed Information Worker scenarios, and tests whether the various configurations are correct. The list of checks that you see will depend on the applications that are available in your Information Worker product installation. Some additional checks are also configured, which are applicable for all scenarios.

Depending on your Information Worker product installation, the following checks are performed for the various scenarios:

  • Support package check, to verify if your SAP system has the minimum support package level required for working with Information Worker.
  • Logical port check, to verify if the RFC destinations and logical ports are configured correctly and active.
  • Profile parameters check, to verify the configurations for profile parameters.
  • Internet Connection Manager check, to check settings for the Internet Connection Manager (ICM).
  • Number range object check, to verify if the defined number range objects are defined and functional.
  • User check, to verify user settings, locked users, default language and time zone, and assignment to employees.
  • Role Management check, to verify the Role Management configurations and validate individual users against these configurations.

Activities

  • Click on the activity to run the Information Worker checktool.

The list of check results is presented in an ALV list, and the following columns are displayed:

Field    Description

Type    Displays the severity of the message (for example, errors, warnings or information).

Message Text    Displays a short message describing the check result.

Long Text    If available, describes the check result in detail (including a diagnosis of the error). Where applicable, this field also provides recommendations on rectifying the error. To display the long text, click on the Message Long Text icon.

Type of Check    Displays the type of check that was performed (for example, support package check, configuration check, and so on).

Check Object    Displays the underlying check object.

Action to Correct Error    Displays possible actions to correct the error. If a repair option is enabled for the error, click on the message line and choose Repair on the application toolbar.

Additional Information    Displays additional information regarding the underlying check object.

Other ALV list functions, including displaying of technical information, sorting, searching, filtering, printing and exporting are also available.

Correcting an Error

If you choose to use the proposed repair option, it is important to read the long text (if it exists), which will provide you with information about the repair and the suggested procedure. Sometimes, correcting one error also corrects other errors displayed in the list. It is therefore advisable to carefully check the list to verify if there are multiple error messages referring to the same check object. In such cases, select the repair which is most likely to resolve the maximum number of errors.

  • To correct an error, click on the Repair button.

Those messages which do not have a repair option must be corrected manually (by means of an alternative method).

After the errors are corrected, run the checktool again. The check results will be displayed with a new set of results reflecting the repairs you have made. If errors still continue, you may have to perform further analysis and corrections.
