Use

In this activity, you can define the symbol code generation. The 15-character symbol code is structured as follows:

  • Coding schema (character 1)
  • Assignment (character 2 )
  • Area of operation (character 3 )
  • Status (character 4 )
  • Function indicator (characters 5-10)
  • Symbol modifier (characters 11-12)
  • Country (characters 13-14)
  • Operation command (character 15 )

For further information, see the standard MIL-STD-2525B, Common Warfighting Symbology.

Requirements

Standard settings

The following standard values are provided in the system:

  • The function indicators (characters 5-10) are provided in the standard system.

You can view these values in the step Function Indicators (Complete), and change them if necessary.

In the step Function Indicators (Levels), you can view the distribution of these values to the hierarchy levels for manual input, and change this data if necessary.

  • Standard values are provided for the coding schema (character 1), assignment (character 2 ), area of operation (character 3), status (character 4), first character of the symbol modifier (character 11) and operation command (character 15).

You can view these values in the activity step of the same name, and change them if necessary.

Activities

Make the following settings to generate the symbol code automatically or manually from the organizational properties of a force element:

  • Check the standard values provided by SAP in the aforementioned steps, and change them if necessary.
  • Define the required branches/corps and assign a function indicator to these.
  • Define the required branch/corps additions and assign a function indicator to these. You can have the system perform this assignment automatically by using report /ISDFPS/IM_BRANCHS_FROM_BRANCH. If necessary, process the automatically generated branch/corps additions. You can view these values in the step Function Indicators (Assignment).
  • Define the required structure levels and assign the second character of the symbol modifier to these.
  • Assign the relevant to the ISO country codes.
