Use
In this IMG activity, you define which characteristic values from the global class are to be included in the compatible unit master data hierarchy validation and in the design builder (compatible unit structure) characteristic inheritance.
If a compatible unit contains subordinate items, you have to check that these items contain at least those characteristic values specified in the parent compatible unit .
When you create a design, you have to determine which characteristic values are to be inherited by subitems during entry of a compatible unit that contains subordinate items.
Not all characteristics within the global class will be required for the described checks. The compatible unit "action" characteristic is the only mandatory requirement.

Example
If you set characteristic SERVICE to value GAS in a compatible unit, this characteristic will contain the value GAS in all subordinate compatible units using this characteristic. The derived values can be changed if required.
