In this IMG activity you change rules. When you call the rule you want to change, you must enter the organizational unit and the contract handling document types since these, together with the agreement class, together with agreement class, the rule identifier, and attribute identifier, are key fields for rule maintenance. Choose the type of rule list. This determines how the data is checked. You can choose from four types of list:
- Positive list: Corresponds to an OR operation. All the entries are checked in succession to see if one of them is fulfilled.
- Negative list: All entries are checked in succession to see that none of them is fulfilled.
- Row list: Corresponds to an AND operation. All entries must be fulfilled.
- Individual list: You choose an individual list if you want to specify your own checks. You also require your own form routines in this case. As there is no maintenance dialog the checks are performed exlusively by the coding.
The rule class is time-independent, meaning that you can choose rule classes for all five times. The sequence number is an additional key field for all times. You can specify several rules for each object for the different times. They are processed consecutively, starting with the smallest sequence number. If you select the F4 Possible checkbox, F4 Help is provided for the relevant field. If the Check Models checkbox is selected, the checks are also valid for model contracts.

Further notes
You call rule maintenance directly from the relevant times of a contract. You can then go straight to the detail screen since the time is already fixed, and you do not have to make any more selections.
Example
If the selection of an agreement type is checked at time 1 (contract handling document start), for example, the relevant form routine is called to carry out the check. The form routine accesses the entries stored in rule maintenance and checks them. If the specified agreement is a type that is not allowed for contract handling, the entry is rejected.
