Diagnosis
In Customizing for lot sizing is defined that the requirements of several days, weeks, or months are to be grouped together. However, MRP Live on HANA does not support such period lot-sizing procedures where several periods are grouped together.
Problem:
In classic MRP, the system uses the first shortage date as the period start date. Based on this date, the system groups the requirements of the following "n" periods. As the shortages of different materials can exist on different days, it is quite possible that different groupings exist for each material.
In MRP Live on HANA, the system plans materials simultaneously not sequentially. As a result, it is not possible to define periods based on individual materials.
System Response
If a period lot-sizing procedure is defined for a material in Customizing where several periods are grouped together, the MRP Live report plans this material using classic MRP.
Procedure
You may experience poorer performance when planning in classic MRP which you could improve if you changed the lot-sizing procedure to a procedure that is supported by MRP Live on HANA.
For example, you want to group requirements in quarterly periods. Instead of using a period lot-sizing procedure that groups three monthly periods, you can also create a planning calendar with periods starting on the 1st January, 1st April, 1st July, and the 1st October.
