Diagnosis
The attribute value designated as the default value is empty and therefore cannot be saved. The value you want to use already matches the default setting in the system.
Examples of attributes for which this behavior can be observed are:
- "Usage type":
If this attribute has no value, it means that the selected structure is a substructure. A default value can be set only if you want to create book structures.
- "Never Translate Object":
If this attribute has no value, it means that this object is excluded from translation. The object appears with the relevant status in the translation mode in SAP GUI. This matches the default value in the system. A default value can only be specified if this object is never to be translated.
System Response
Procedure
If a default value has already been set area-wide for such an attribute, and if a different value is required for a specific class, proceed as follows:
- Delete the area-wide default value by choosing "Delete by Area" from the context area.
- Set the default value specifically for the class.
