Diagnosis
To upload an MDS for a basic material to IMDS, you have to confirm that all substances - listed according to GADSL - are declared properly. The flagged All GADSL substances declared identificator IND / IMDSNGADSL indicates that the declaration is confirmed.
System Response
Be aware of the following responses:
- If the check finds the flagged identificator All GADSL substances declared, and at least one GADSL listed substance marked as confidential, the check result is set to red.
- If the check finds no GADSL listed substance marked as confidential and no substances with the CAS No. System (Joker/Wildcard Substances), the check result is set to green, and the identificator All GADSL substances declared is flagged automatically.
- If the check finds any substances with the CAS No. System (Joker/Wildcard Substances) and a non flagged All GADSL substances declared identificator, the check result is set to red. A manual confirmation is required.
Based on the system configuration, the IMDS check sets the check result to Checked with Warning (yellow) or Checked with Error (red).
- If the system issues a warning message, you are able to upload the MDS to the IMDS that accepts the MDS with warnings.
- If the system issues an error message, you are prevented from uploading the MDS to the IMDS; the IMDS would not accept the MDS as it does not fulfill the requirements.
Procedure
Execute at least one of the following steps:
- In case the standard composition of the basic material contains at least one substance with the CAS No. System (Joker/Wildcard Substances), confirm that the wildcards do not contain any GADSL listed substance by flagging the All GADSL substances declared indicator manually. This has to be done inside the Substance Workbench by maintaining the identificator IND / IMDSNGADSL for the basic material as true (= yes or 'X').
- In case the standard composition of the basic material does not contain any substance with the CAS No. System (Joker/Wildcard Substances) but it contains a GADSL listed substance marked as confidential, disclose the substance by using another component type than Confident.
Procedure for System Administration
You can change the configuration for this check criterion in the Specify Checks and Single Criteria Customizing activity under Product and REACH Compliance->Checks.
This check uses the following check criterion: IMDS 2145.
Be aware of the following:
- Material categories in Product and REACH Compliance are mapped to objects in IMDS as follows:
Product and REACH Compliance: Pure Substance - IMDS: Basic Substance
Product and REACH Compliance: Basic Material - IMDS: Material
Product and REACH Compliance: Surface - IMDS: Material
Product and REACH Compliance: Part - IMDS: Component
Product and REACH Compliance: Product - IMDS: Component
Product and REACH Compliance: Bulk - IMDS: SemiComponent
Product and REACH Compliance: RawMat - IMDS: SemiComponent.
- The following abbreviations are used in Product and REACH Compliance without further explanations:
IMDS: International Material Data System
MDS: Material Data Sheet.
